Recipe. I love this cheese!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">We&#8217;re not vegans in my family. I make this cheese<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">because we love it, and we know it&#8217;s healthier than<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">cheese made from animal milk. It&#8217;s also readily<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">available in my cupboard and takes 6 minutes to<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">make!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">It costs less than dairy or vegan packaged cheese<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">and though you need to buy some costly items but they last<br \/>\nlong enough.You use small bits of them, and they appear to<br \/>\nlast for ages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">This is too easy and quick to make. Whenever<br \/>\nI want cheese, I just pour the coconut cream and<br \/>\nhot water into my little stainless steel sauce pot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Add the nutritional yeast, garlic powder, and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">salt,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Turn on the stove at medium to bring it to a simmer.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Lower the heat to keep it just simmering <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">while it\u00a0 gently<br \/>\nbubbles for a full 6 minutes.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">I set my timer for 6 minutes and s<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">tir a full<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">\u00a06 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><br \/>\nThen pour promptly into your waiting greased<br \/>\nbowl \/mold. Use a silicone spatula to scrape the<br \/>\npan while its still hot. Work quickly. font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>First, you will also need to decide if you want a<br \/>\nfirm sliceable, grateable cheese, or a softer cheese<br \/>\nthat will melt and stretch when heated.<br \/>\n<\/strong>(You can\u2019t have both, you must choose one or the other).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><br \/>\nThe Firm version Above\u2013 <\/strong>\u00a0is best for slicing for eating plain<br \/>\nor on crackers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><br \/>\nThe Meltable version below\u2013<\/strong>\u00a0is best for cheese that you<br \/>\ncan melt on pizza, use in grilled cheese sandwiches,<br \/>\nor quesadillas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><br \/>\nThe only difference between the two <\/strong><strong>versions is<br \/>\nthe addition and quantity of tapioca starch and the<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>reduction of agar agar to allow it to melt and stretch better.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/>\nHOW TO MAKE FIRM VEGAN CHEESE<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><em>(GRATEABLE &#8211; SLICEABLE)<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wprm-recipe-header wprm-recipe-ingredients-header wprm-block-text-bold wprm-align-left wprm-header-decoration-line\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Ingredients<\/span><\/h3>\n<div class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-group\">\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">1\u00a0(13.5 oz) can\u00a0coconut milk,\u00a0full fat<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">1\/2\u00a0cup\u00a0hot water<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">2 tbs. agar agar, powder <\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(or 6 tbs. flakes if you can&#8217;t find powdered)<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">2 tbs. nutritional yeast<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">1 1\/4 tsp salt<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">1\/2 tsp lemon juice<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">1\/4 tsps. garlic powder<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Heat to a slow boil\u00a0stirring constantly\u00a0for\u00a06 minutes.<br \/>\n<em><br \/>\nSimply\u00a0put all the ingredients into a saucepan<br \/>\nand stir with a whisk.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">This allows the agar-agar to melt completely and<\/span><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">set properly.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">(It may seem ready after 3-4 minutes but keep<\/span><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">it at a low boil for 6 minutes to make sure<\/span><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">that it is completely smooth).<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Then\u00a0seal with a lid\u00a0or cover with plastic wrap and\u00a0put in<br \/>\nthe fridge\u00a0to set for at least 2 hours to set.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">You could use other plant-based milk instead or even<br \/>\ncashew cream, <\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">but I find that the coconut milk gives it<br \/>\nthe rich creamy texture that <\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">I crave in cheese. (Coconut<br \/>\ncream also works well.)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Stir in gradually. Bring to a boil. Then lower the heat<br \/>\nso that it keeps bubbling. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Do not leave unattended.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Stir continually for precisely 6 minutes.\u00a0 Stir constantly<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">for 6 minutes even though you&#8217;ll think it looks done<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">a lot sooner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">If it starts to boil, reduce heat to maintain<br \/>\nbubbling.
